She'll be reading extracts from her acclaimed novel, Benedict's Brother. It's an open event starting at 6.30pm, and Tricia will be joined by a scriptwriter and an agent who will all be offering advice to people aspiring to get their work in print. Tickets are £5, including food, and can be bought on the door of the Westminster Pub in the Triangle, Bournemouth. Tricia is also due to attend the Borunemouth Literary Luncheon on February 11th 2010. More details to come nearer the time.
Benedict's Brother goes to Westminster
On June 9th 2009 Benedict's Brother was part of an Arts In Parliament event in the Palace of Westminster attended by MPs and other influencers in the arts. Arts Council England organised the event to promote the successful work of the council which supported Benedict's Brother by offering a grant to launch the book in 2006.
Remember, remember, an event in November...
Tricia Walker was one of four well-known authors speaking at a Literary Afternoon & Cream Tea at Chewton Glen luxury hotel and spa in New Milton, Hampshire, on November 12th. Alongside Tricia were authors Christine Aziz, who won the Richard & Judy 'How to Get Published' Award for The Olive Readers, Sarah Challis, who wrote Footprints in the Sand, and Andy McDermott, writer of Atlantis. Proceeds went to the Tenovus cancer charity and Bournemouth & Poole College Foundation.

Book a hit with brand guru
Brand and marketing guru Tessa Hood read the book from cover to cover in a couple of sittings and described it as 'extraordinary' and ‘the most tender, sad and inciteful story of a sister's love for her brother’.

Success Story back to York for Literature Festival
Tricia Walker returned to the place where she sold the first copies of her self-published tale as part of York Literature Festival in March.
Tricia launched Benedict’s Brother at Borders Bookstore in York last year, and it turned out to be the most any of their UK stores sold on a launch night for an unknown author. She returned to the store as part of York Literature Festival which also featured authors such as Joanne Harris, Tracy Chevalier and GP Taylor.
She hosted a panel workshop on the Art of Self-Publishing alongside York writer Christian Vassie, at the bookshop in Davygate, York, on 15th March 2008. More than 80 budding writers and eager listeners discussed with Tricia the benefits and pitfalls of self-publishing.
Benedict’s Brother chosen ‘Book of the Year’
Benedict’s Brother has been selected by Roger Tagholm, deputy editor of Publishing News, as one of his 3 Books of the Year, alongside Ian McEwan’s best-selling On Chesil Beach and Costa Book Award winner What Was Lost by Catherine O’Flynn.
Tagholm said it was ‘a touching novel about a woman journeying to the famous Bridge On the River Kwai to scatter her uncle’s ashes. For the service, a line of Buddhist monks fans out across the famous bridge, like a saffron-robed sunset.’
